| Welcome, and Thank You for
dropping in. I hope you find my site both useful and informative,
and that it becomes a valuable resource for you in creating future bowhunting
successes. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me should
you have any questions about how I can help you accomplish your dream of
consistently putting your tag on mature bucks.
Given
that deer attracting Ag crops are almost nonexistent throughout most of
Texas’ vast and rugged whitetail habitats, bowhunters typically rely on
supplemental feeders to attract deer within bow range of stands located
nearby. Experienced deer hunters realize that the older and more
cautious bucks rarely expose themselves at these sites and within range
during daylight for most of the hunting season. Understanding mature
buck behavior and how they approach and utilize feeding stations to either
feed or check the does is paramount for consistently seeing these trophies
under your stand during legal hunting hours.
Also, the use of strategically located, low cost, no maintenance mini
food plots can sharply increase deer use patterns in specific areas that
deer prefer to travel through and stage in before and after they utilize
feeding stations. The bowhunter that knows how to tie this strategy
into a well planned supplemental feeder location program is able to create
new and exciting stand sites to the bowhunters advantage.
Thus, developing a sound "location strategy"
for the placement of supplemental feeders, mini food plots, and stand sites
is key for creating shot opportunities during each phase of the hunting
season. The most effective plan allows you to:
-
Hunt calm deer as they pass by your stands
when they travel to & from the feeders,
-
Get to & from your stand sites before and
after your hunts without disturbing deer in their bedding areas or those
already at the feeders,
-
Keep your deer from associating feeders with
danger, thus as "safe zones" they utilize them later in the mornings and
earlier in the afternoons.
If you are a Texas bowhunter and would like to improve your stand placement
strategy skills and develop new shot opportunities on mature whitetail
bucks, I offer property evaluation and stand site selection consulting
services for bowhunting land owners and deer leases.
How Do I Benefit By Having A Property Evaluation
& Consultation?
You will:
-
Gain a solid understanding of how deer utilize the land - knowing where
the core rut areas, bedding areas, funnels, and other preferred deer use
features are throughout your hunt area,
-
Learn how to use mini food plots and habitat features such as terrain and
security cover to attract and funnel mature bucks past strategically placed
stands as they travel to and from site specific feeding stations,
-
Understand how distinct approach and exit routes to and from stands minimize
detection and patterning of the hunter - specifically for both morning
and evening hunts,
-
Enjoy alternate stand sites which allow you to hunt any wind under various
conditions,
-
Receive marked and site specific recommendations for feeder and stand placements,
-
Landowner, or each property lease hunter*, receives a Hunt
Recorder & Notes Book. * Excludes Hunters
on Day Lease Operations.
How Does The Process Take Place?
Personal recommendations are offered after I thoroughly scout the property
and mark off preferred feeder and stand sites. As I walk the property
I note important findings on a topographical or aerial map and take extensive
notes. Upon completion of the evaluation I then tour the property
with you and explain my findings, point out marked feeder and stand site
selections, and offer recommendations for hunt strategies and my reasoning
behind them. Maps and notes are given to you for future reference.
All
discoveries are held in strict confidence with the client only.
An advance copy of a topo or aerial map with property boundaries clearly
defined is required prior to the evaluation.
